Shelton made headlines for the wrong reasons last week during his victory over JJ Wolf at the Queen’s Club, getting away with what appeared to be a double bounce.
Although the umpire deemed it one movement, a number of his fellow professionals were less convinced and Nick Kyrgios in particular singled out the American for not declaring it.
That, though, was a rare blemish for the 20 year old who will be making his Wimbledon debut next week, although as his run to the quarter-finals in Melbourne showed, playing in Grand Slams holds no fears for him.
That win over Wolf in the end counted for little, as he then lost to Lorenzo Musetti in the second round in London, beaten in three sets.

Like many Spanish players brought up on clay, this is the part of the season that has to be endured for Zapata-Miralles, rather than enjoyed.
Even the advantage of playing in front of a home crowd is unlikely to inspire him to go deep into this tournament, if the evidence of two successive first round defeats at Wimbledon are any guide.
This will just be his second grass court match of the season, his first coming last week at Queen’s Club.
There drawn against the American Taylor Fritz, he went down to a straight sets defeat.
He will expect the worst and hope for the best against Shelton.

Shelton will start the clear favourite because of the surface.
However, the American will be hoping to progress this time without the unwanted headlines he attracted last week.
