Their only previous meeting came at the 2022 Barcelona Open and Alcaraz had won that clay court encounter in three hard-fought sets.

Alcaraz Continues to Dominate

Sebastian Korda had claimed he is one of the favourites to win Wimbledon this season but coming up against Alcaraz in the semifinal of this grass court competition he would have realised why that claim might be a tad stretched.

In a semifinal that promised to be a pulsating affair but lasted only for an hour and 23 minutes, Alcaraz overcame a break of serve in the very first game to clinch a 6-3, 6-4 win over Korda.

Alcaraz bounced back quickly to break Korda back and had break-points in each of the following three games off his American opponent’s serve too. It was on that third occasion that Alcaraz broke again before serving out the set.

The second set was far more straightforward with the only break-points on offer coming in the third game. Alcaraz raked up three of them on Korda’s serve, winning it off the first opportunity. And soon after he served it out easily to march into the final for the first time in his career on grass.

This follows a fourth round appearance at Wimbledon last year and wins over Arthur Rinderknech, Grigor Dimitrov and Jiri Lehecka in his previous rounds here.

de Minaur Sends Rune Packing

In a match which started off as neither player as a favourite, de Minaur was a straight-set win over Holger Rune to seal his berth in the final of the tournament.

It did take him an hour and 40 minutes but de Minaur was able to stall Rune 6-3, 7-6 (2) in their semifinal to seal his second final on grass. He had won the title at the 2021 Eastbourne International.

De Minaur faced three break-points in the encounter and saved them all even as he broke Rune twice. Both those breaks of serves came in the first set before Rune held his own for most part of the second set. The Aussie did have a few break-points in the sixth game of that set but Rune saved them all.

What Rune couldn’t quite do is find his rhythm in the ensuing tie-breaker which de Minaur went on to win with consummate ease to make the final.

He will have a tough prospect here despite Alcaraz’s relative inexperience on grass.

Alcaraz v de Minaur Prediction and Tip

Alcaraz is 2/7 to win this and we expect him to come through and lift his first grass court title in straight sets.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Alcaraz to win: 2/7
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Alcaraz to win in straight sets: 5/6
