Baindl Is 0-4 At Wimbledon

Kateryna Baindl will be making her fifth main draw appearance at Wimbledon and the Ukrainian is yet to win her first match in the grass court major.

Baindl made first round exits in 2016, 2018, 2019 and 2021 and lost in the qualifiers four times.

She has not been in good form this year either and comes into the tournament with a 6-11 record across levels in 2023.

The 29-year-old, ranked no. 86th in the world,  had made it to the third round at the Australian Open and was a quarterfinalist in the WTA 125 in Makarska. She has otherwise struggled big time this year.

Baindl has played just one WTA final in her career and that was in 2018, when she finishes runner-up in Taiwan Open.

On grass, Baindl has an 18-20 career record across levels. But most of those wins have either come in the qualifying rounds or in lower level tournaments.

Fernandez Not in Good Form

Facing Baindl in the first round will be Leylah Fernandez, who too is searching for her first main draw win at Wimbledon

The 20-year-old Canadian, who reached her maiden Grand Slam final at the U.S. Open in 2021, made her debut at Wimbledon in 2021, but lost in the first round to Jelena Ostapenko.

Fernandez has not played a lot of tennis on grass and she has a 2-3 career record on the surface.

This year, the Canadian lefty played in the Bad Homburg Open, winning her first-round match, but falling in the round of 16.

Fernandez Is 18-14 across levels in 2023, but barring a run to the quarterfinals in Auckland, she has struggled to win consecutive tour-level matches in 2023. She however reached one ITF semifinal this year.

Baindl v Fernandez Prediction and Tip

It’s a matchup between two players struggling for form. However, despite being out of form this year, Fernandez is a better player and knows how to soak the pressure of a Grand Slam match. Expect her to win this contest with ease.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Fernandez to win: 2/9
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Under 21.5 games in the match: 4/5
