Grigor Dimitrov v Ilya Ivashka Head to Head
They played three times so far and Dimitrov won two of the three matches. Ivashka won the most recent one last year.

Dimitrov Destroys Shimabukuro
Grigor Dimitrov had a really strong start to this year’s Wimbledon destroying his opponent in three simple sets 6-1 6-2 6-1. He was a huge favourite before the match but this was a proper beatdown powered by 27 winners and 8 aces.
He was greatly helped by Shimabukuro who struggled to keep the ball in play for a prolonged period of time and that will certainly be different when he faces Ivashka. The Belarusian inflicted Dimitrov a pretty painful loss in Sofia last year so he should be motivated to get revenge.
The Bulgarian is generally considered the better grass player posting a 51-35 record on the surface so far in his career. He is 5-1 this year and 24-12 overall so it’s been a really solid year.
Obviously, the serve will matter a lot and if he keeps his shots close to the line and precise then the Bulgarian is the player to lose the match.

Ilya Ivashka was a huge favourite against a clay specialist in round one yet he dropped a set surprisingly. It was a pretty strong comeback from the Belarusian as he won the next three sets pretty convincingly after that.
He had 7 aces and 49 winners which is a pretty impressive stat line and if he posts something similar against Dimitrov then the Bulgarian might be in trouble. Having beaten him the last time they played should give Ivashka some confidence.
He’s a pretty solid player who dealt with some injuries that impacted his level. He is only 10-17 on the year though on grass he’s 21-18 in his career which is a pretty solid mark for him.
The key for him will be to win the baseline battle. If he can keep his control stable and bait Dimitrov into errors he’ll have a chance however minor it might be.
Dimitrov v Ivahska Prediction and Tip
Dimitrov is a pretty big favourite here and for good reason. He is looking really strong on the surface so far this year and he’s the better player overall. Even so, I do think we might see at least four sets.
Tips:
- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 3.5 sets in the match: 4/6
