Swiatek leads 2-1 head to head. The Pole won the Adelaide 500 final in 2021 and at the United Cup this year, while Bencic won at the U.S. Open in 2021.

Iga Swiatek’s current winning streak extended to 13-0, while she improved to 6-0 on grass as the top seed knocked out Petra Martic in straight sets in the third round on Friday.

The 22-year-old Pole traded an early break with the world no. 29 in the first set, before winning four consecutive games to take the opening set in just 40 minutes. She faced some stern resistance though from the Croatian in the second set as Martic saved a break point on her serve at 3-5 (30-40). The 30th seed then broke Swiatek to draw level at 5-5, but the world no. 1 won the last two games to take the match 6-2, 7-5.

Swiatek also won her first two rounds in straight sets, beating Zhu Lin 6-1, 6-3 in the first round before ovverpowering Sara Sorribes Tormo 6-2, 6-0 in round 2.

Swiatek is into the fourth round at Wimbledon for the second time in her fourth attempt. Can she reach the quarterfinals for the first time?

The four-time Grand slam champion won her third french Open title this year. She also won three matches in Bad Homburg, but withdrew from the tournament before her semifinal match, so her unbeaten streak is continuing since the start of the clay court major. She will be eager to keep that streak intact.

Bencic Makes Quick Work of Linette

Belinda Bencic made quick work of Magda Linette to storm into the fourth round at Wimbledon on Friday.

This is the third time that the world no. 14 has gone past the third round at Sw19, but the Swiss is yet to reach the quarterfinals. In fact Bencic has never reached the last eight stage in the first three majors. She was however a semifinalist at the U.S. Open in 2019 in addition to finishing as a quarterfinalist two other times.

Bencic needed an hour and 26 minutes to oust the 23rd seed Linette 6-3, 6-1. she saved 9 of 9 break points against the pole and converted 4 of 9 to advance to round 4.

It was a much easier outing for the 14th seed, who had to come back from a set and 1-3 down to beat world no. 52 Danielle Collins in the second round. Bencic had won the two hour and 47 minute contest 3-6, 6-4, 7-6 (7-2).

She had beaten Katie Swan 7-5, 6-2 in the first round.

Bencic, who won in Adelaide-2 and in Abu Dhabi this year, also reached the final in Charleston only to finish runner-up. She has been extremely consistent and competitive throughout the season and could give the top seed a run for her money.

Swiatek is in exceptional form at the moment and will look to keep that momentum going. Given bencic’s form, she too will ask a few tough questions, but Swiatek should eventually come out on top.
