Ramos Vinolas Is a Past Champion

Albert Ramos-Vinolas has a very good record in Gstaad. The Spanish left-hander had won the title here in 2019 by beating Cedrik-Marcel Stebe in the final. He was also a semifinalist in the tournament last year, falling to Casper Ruud in straight sets; and had made it to the quarterfinal in his only other main draw appearance at the Swiss Open in 2016.

Ranked no. 76th in the world, Ramos-Vinolas is 6-19 at the tour level this year, with all six of those wins coming on his preferred surface —  the clay.

Barring a semifinal finish in Cordoba and a run to the quarterfinals in Rio, Ramos-Vinolas has had a tough time this year, which has seen him exit the first round of a tour level event 13 times.

He has an overall record of 12-24 across levels this year, with all 12 of his victories coming on clay. After making a first round exit from Wimbledon, Ramos-Vinolas competed in the San Benedetto challenger, where he won one and lost one.

Fognini is 6-10 this season, with all six of his wins coming on clay. The world n0. 121 reached the third round in Rome by beating Andy Murray and Miormir Kecmanovic en route; he also reached the third round at the French Open, defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime in the first round and Jason Kubler in the second.
