Decent Return on Clay for Ymer in Salzburg

Elias Ymer plays his best tennis on clay and while the Swede has been active on Tour for a few years, he never quite got things right to really maintain a position inside the top 100. He’s a fairly decent player capable of playing some amazing tennis but he rarely finds that level.

This year has been pretty solid for far with 24 wins and 21 losses with most of his wins coming on clay. Bastad has been an event he’s playing every year and he generally wins at least one match before bowing out. This year will see him face a fellow Swede, a player he never played against.

He’s favoured heavily due to his experience and generally a higher level of tennis he showed throughout his career. He loves to play attacking tennis and it generally works in his favour but he can make miss a lot.

Borg can play tennis though so he’ll need to play a solid match if he wants to win. It won’t be easy by any means.

Leo Borg Eyeing ATP Win

Leo Borg has won on the ATP Tour before but the Swedish player largely hasn’t broken out in the way many expect him to. Being the son of the iconic Bjorn Borg certainly adds pressure on him and he’s been far from his father’s level so far in his career.

He’s yet to get anywhere close to the top 100 though he has shown some solid level at times. Last year in Stockholm we saw him play really well so it’s possible that he produced a great effort once more on native soil.

The Swede has had an okay year so far with 19 wins and 15 losses though most of those matches were played on a level that’s far from the ATP one. He never faced Ymer but he’ll be the underdog against him certainly though not without chances.

Clay is technically his strongest surface so he’ll try his best and perhaps we see his father in attendance at the match as well.

Ymer v Borg Prediction and Tip

While many will be hoping that Borg wins the match Ymer is far more likely. I do think we might see a competitive one but I’m still sticking with Ymer winning in two.

Tips:

  • Moderate Risk Tip: Ymer to win in straight sets: 1/2
