Arthur Fils is just 19, but the Frenchman as made quite an impression this season.
Fils not only reached his first two Challenger finals this season, he also made it to his maiden ATP final this year. What’s more he went on to win that clay court tournament in Lyon by beating Francisco Cerundolo in the ytitle clash.
Fils’s Challenger finals were both hard court events. While he won the title in Oeiras, he finished runner-up in Quimper.
Overall, he is 10-6 at the tour level this year and that includes a 5-2 record on clay. He put up notable performances in Marseille and Momntpellier as well, reaching the semifinals in both those tournaments in Februrary.
Overall, Fils is 28-12 across levels this year and is expected to put up an impressive display on his Gstaad debut.

Stricker Receives a Wild Card
Local hope Dominic Stricker has been handed a wild card for the tournament. The 20-year-old Swiss, who won the doubles title in Gstaad two years ago, will be playing in the tournament for the third time.
Sricker went out in the first round in 2021 and could only reach as far as the second round last year.
He brings a 26-11 season record into this year’s tournament and will be high on confidence after getting his first-ever win in a Grand Slam tournament at Wimbledon. After qualifying for the main draw in SW19, Stricker defeated Alexei Popyrin in five set, before falling to Frances Tiafoe in round 2.
It was only his second major appearance after the French Open this year, where he suffered a first round defeat.
Stricker has been in decent form this year. He won two Challenger titles this year, one on hard in Rovereto, Italy and the other on clay in Prague 2. He also reached the quarterfinals of the Nottingham Open at the tour level.

Fils has been more successful at the ATP level this year, even claiming his first ATP 250 title. Stricker is in good form too and will also have the support of the crowd behind him, so expect him to give the Frenchman a tough fight, but eventually Fils should come out on top.
