World no. 44 Miomir Kecmanovic reached the semifinals of the Gstaad Open with a brilliant final set turnaround against Belgium’s Zizou Bergs in the quarterfinal on Friday.
After both players had won a set apiece, the second seed found himself two breaks down in the final set as Bergs took a 1-4 lead. However, Kecmanovic made a resounding comeback and broke the world no. 175 thrice to move into the final four stage.
Kecmanovic saved 7 of 11 break points and converted 5 of 16 to win the two hour and 35 minute contest 6-4, 3-6, 7-5.

Ramos-Vinolas Reaches Another Gstaad Semifinal
Albert Ramos-Vinolas put up another gutsy performance on Friday as he came back from a set down to beat Peru’s Juan Pablo Varillas in the quarterfinals.
It was a third straight three sets win for Ramos-Vinolas in the tournament,. He had begun his campaign with a 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 victory over Fabio Fognini and then ousted the third seed Lorenzo Sonego 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 in the second round.
On Friday, the world no. 79 lost the first set in the tiebreak but he raised his level in the second set and then carried the momentum into the final set to oust the world no. 66, 6-7 (2-7), 6-1, 6-4 in two hours and 42 minutes.
Ramos-Vinolas has been in poor form for most of the season, but this will be the second time that he will feature in the semifinal, as he reached the last four stage in Cordoba as well.
It is also the third time that the lefty has made it to the final four in Gstaad. He had won the title here in 2019 and was a semifinalist last year. The four-time tour level champion will be aiming to reach a 12th ATP final on Saturday.
Kecmanovic v Ramos-Vinolas Prediction and Tip
This is expected to be a close contest. Ramos-Vinolas is vastly experienced clay court player, he is a former champion here and also has a very good record in Gstaad, but he has been out of form for most parts of the season. In contrast Kecmanovic has been very consistent this year and has already featured in two finals. So the Serb is a slight favourite but he may need three sets to finish the job.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Kecmanovic to win: 4/6
- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 26.5 games in the match: 5/6
