World no. 38 Ugo Humbert took down second seed Alex de Minaur in the quarterfinal of the Atlanta Open on Friday.
The left-handed Frenchman needed an hour and 36 minutes to beat the Australian 7-6 (7-4), 6-3. Humbert had also won his second round match in straight sets, beating Lloyd Harris 7-6 (8-6), 6-4.
However, he had needed three sets to beat fellow Frenchman Constant Lestienne 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 in the opening round.
Humbert is into a second straight ATP semifinal, following his run to the final four in Newport. He has been in good form in Challenger tournaments, winning two titles on clay and finishing runner-up in an indoor tournament. He is a three-time champion on the tour. Vukic Ousts Eubanks
World no. 82 Aleksandar Vukic upset fifth seed Christopher Eubanks 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinal on Friday.
The Aussie dominated the match, breaking the American once in the opening set and twice in the second to knock out the American in an hour and 17 minutes.
Vukic had also begun his campaign with a win over an American, defeating Ethan Quinn 7-6 (7-5), 6-3. In the round of 16, he struck 26 aces in 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7-3) comeback win over Yoshihito Nishioka.
Vukic too has reached three Challenger finals this year, winning the title in Busan and finishing runner-up in Seoul and Oeiras.
This is his first tour level semifinal of the year. Can the 27-year-old, who had come into the tournament with a 3-8 tour level record, reach a maiden ATP final?

Humbert has a better record than Vukic and has more experience in playing semifinals and finals. The Frenchman is also in fine form this season. Expect him to reach a fourth career final.
