He is 21 years old but Misolic is already showing that he is capable of a lot more than his current 129th rank on the ATP charts shows. The Austrian had made it through the qualifiers at the Bastad Open earlier this month and then overcome Dusan Lajovic and Jozef Kovalik to enter the last eight stage of the tournament.
A winner of two Challenger titles in his career, both of which came on clay, Misolic was then beaten by Lorenzo Musetti in the quarterfinals there.
He followed that up with his presence in the qualifiers of the Umag Open. And for the second week in a row Misolic won both his qualifying rounds to enter the main draw.
This time around, however, it was Stan Wawrinka who put an end to his stay in the first round itself, defeating him easily.
Misolic now has a good chance to do better than that here in his home tournament where he has a direct entry and faces a player who was once a world number 70 but has slipped down the charts drastically.

Andreozzi Surprises in Qualifiers
Before coming into the qualifiers of this event, Andreozzi had featured in only two top-level ATP tournaments this season, losing in the first round at the Acapulco Open and failing to make it through the qualifiers in Lyon.
Which is why Andreozzi went into both his qualifying rounds in Kitzbuhel as a second favourite by some distance.
He was a 6/5 underdog against Jesper de Jong in the first qualifier and 13/10 in the second against Juan Manuel Cerundolo but won in straight sets in both rounds.
A clay court specialist, having won 13 of his 15 titles at the lower level on that surface, Andreozzi will be looking for his first main draw win of the season in a tournament he has never played in the main draw before. Up against the inexperience of Misolic, he will give himself a chance.
