Dominik Koepfer v James Duckworth Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the Atlanta Open last year and it was Duckworth who had won that encounter in three sets.

He has had a good time on clay having won two of four career Challenger titles on clay but Koepfer has also started to do well on hardcourt surfaces this season.
Or at least he has done well on them in these last two weeks, winning three of the four main draw matches he’s played.
After making it to the quarterfinal at the Atlanta Open with wins over John Isner and Dan Evans, Koepfer did not have a lot of difficulties sending Marcelo Tomas Barrios Vera out of the competition, winning in straight sets.
Koepfer was on court for an hour and 32 minutes in which he overcame his opponent 6-4, 6-3. He did not face a single break-point and while he missed seven chances to break his opponent, Koepfer did overcome Barrios Vera’s serve on three occasions in the match.
He will start off a favourite against his Aussie opponent here despite Duckworth’s obvious comfort on hardcourts.

Duckworth Registers First Hardcourt Win of the Season
While Duckworth has done reasonably well in hardcourt competitions at the Challenger level, he had come into this tournament without a victory on this surface at the highest level.
Which is why a 6-3, 6-0 rout of Otto Viratanen will go a long way in providing some relief to the 123rd player.
The 4/6 winning odds had suggested Duckworth was a favourite but by not too much. The end result was a one-sided rout that saw Duckworth break his opponent four times and not face a single break-point in the encounter.
This follows a first round loss for Duckworth at the Atlanta Open last week where he had made it through as a qualifier.
