Karolina Muchova v Anastasia Potapova Head to Head
At WTA level, Muchova and Potapova have never played, but the head-to-head is tied at 1-1 outside it.

Muchova Suffers Shock Defeat In Warsaw
Karolina Muchova succumbed to a shock defeat at last week’s Warsaw Oepn to Slovakian qualifier Rebecca Sramkova. The 26-year-old let slip a 5-1 lead in the third set, and went on to blow four match points in the next game to lose the match.
It’s Muchova’s third defeat in four matches since defeating Aryna Sabalenka from match point down at the French Open in June.
The Czech rose to a career-high ranking of No. 16 following her breathtaking run to the French Open final where she would lose to Iga Swiatek in a close three-setter.
Muchova hasn’t been able to find her best tennis since, losing to Jule Niemeier in the first round of Wimbledon, where she took a really bad fall on the court, and ended up losing the match routinely in the third set.
Muchova now embarks on the North American tour with barely any points to defend. So If the Czech can somehow find her footing in events in Montreal and Cincinnati, she could be a contender for this year’s US Open.

Potapova Forced to Retire in Washington
Anastasia Potapova’s week in Washington was cut short due to an ankle injury she picked up during her match against Belinda Bencic.
Potapova rolled her ankle in the 4-all game, and despite the trainer tending to her issue, she was unable to continue and retired just a few games later. It remains to be seen whether the injury was just precautionary rather than serious,
The injury is a massive setback for Potapova who had been in a good run of form in recent events. She reached the third round in each of the last two Slams.
Potapova’s career-best season could take her even higher than her current ranking of No. 26. She has posted a 27-15 record for the year so far, and won her second career title at Linz in February.
Potapova has made the quarterfinals or better in five WTA tournaments this year, including Miami, where she earned a top-10 win over Coco Gauff.
Muchova v Potapova Prediction and Tip
If Potapova is fully recovered, she’s got a shot of taking this match. But we’re looking on the sets spread and taking Muchova, who’ll be keen to overcome her recent slump against an opponent who might still feel the ill effects of her ankle injury from Washington.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Muchova to win a set – Yes: 1/2
- Moderate Risk Tip: Muchova to win: 10/11
