The Russian featured in his first Grand Slam at the 2015 Wimbledon where he crashed out in the qualifiers before managing a first round appearance at the US Open that very year. There were no further main draw appearances at majors in 2016.
It was in 2017 Rublev finally won a match in a Grand Slam, making the second round at the Australian Open but it was his showing at the US Open that sent tongues wagging. Having never made it past round two before that, Rublev stunned Grigor Dimitrov and David Goffin, and both in straight sets to make it to the quarterfinals.
Till before the coronavirus pandemic shut tennis around the world, that showing was Rublev’s best ever. He followed it up with back to back fourth round entries at the US Open 2019 and Australian Open 2020 and in the meantime collected four ATP titles.
Rublev’s first win came at the Umag Open in 2017, and two years later he won his home competition in Moscow. 2020 looked to be getting to a very special year when he started off his campaign with a title win at Doha and followed it up with another at Adelaide.
He doesn’t have a favourite surface but with solid results on clay it should be a matter of time before Rublev does something big at the French Open. One of the reasons why clay is his best surface is because his first Futures title and then his maiden ATP title also came on that surface.
Also, being a very aggressive baseliner that Rublev is, his booming forehand on the move has laid many an opponent low, especially thanks to his powerful passing.

Andrey Rublev is currently using the Wilson Six-One 95 racquet, but for sponsorship reasons it is covered with a coat of Wilson Burn 100s. The strings used by Rublev includes Luxilon Alu Power.
What’s interesting to note is Rublev played at the 2019 US Open without a sponsor’s brand showing up on his racquet, leading to speculations he could be moving away from Wilson. However, a new deal looks to be signed now with Wilson.
