He started the year as the World No. 109 and eventually climbed through the rankings on the back of winning runs in the Hungarian Open and ATP Umag. He also reached the semifinals in Roland Garros after defeating the likes of Novak Djokovic and David Goffin.

Placed in his opposite half, we are likely to see Damir Dzumhur who is coming in after a couple of disappointing stints on the tour in the recent weeks. His US Open Series turned out to be a disaster, having lost in the early rounds.

However, he did have a decent run in the St. Petersburg Open where he reached the quarterfinal. Furthermore, he is defending champion in the 2018 ATP Kremlin Cup and interestingly, two of the three titles he has won were in Russia. It wouldn’t be a stretch to imagine him going the distance here.
