Casper Ruud will look to defend his title yet again but we are still awaiting the player list for this year’s Swiss Open in Gstaad.

Last year, Ruud was joined by former Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini and Spain’s Roberto Bautista Agut in the main draw.

Here’s a list of all the seeded players who had taken to court in Gstaad in 2022.

What Happened at the 2022 ATP Swiss Open?

Top seeded Casper Ruud successfully defended his title when he defeated the second seeded Matteo Berrettini in the final. He won 4-6, 7-6 (4), 6-2 in a hard-fought encounter.

Ruud had a relatively straightforward run to the final as he dished out straight-set wins to Jiri Lehecka, Jaume Munar and Albert Ramos-Vinolas in the first three matches following an opening round bye.

Berrettini was taken to three sets by Pedro Martinez before defeating Dominic Thiem in the semifinal.

Casper Ruud won the title in 2021 by defeating Hugo Gaston in the final. He won 6-3, 6-2 to lift the trophy.

This was after Ruud got himself a win in the semifinal against Vit Kopriva in straight sets while Gaston had required three sets against Laslo Djere.

The 2020 Gstaad Open was cancelled because of the pandemic.

Albert Ramos Vinolas won the 2019 Swiss Open, with the unseeded Spaniard overcoming Cedrik-Marcel Stebe in straight sets. Vinolas had earlier sent fellow Spaniard Pablo Andujar, also the seventh seed, packing in the semis and Stebe beat Joao Sousa seeded fifth in the other semifinal.

In Gstaad last season, Matteo Berrettini of Italy won the tournament in a remarkable fashion, defeating Bautista Agut in the final in straight sets. In fact, Berrettini also moved on to win the doubles half with Daniele Bracciali.

It was quite a run for the 23-year-old Italian, who won his maiden title on the tour in the Swiss Open. He knocked out the likes of Andrey Rublev, Feliciano Lopez, and Jurgen Zopp before meeting Bautista Agut in the final. As for the top seeds, players like Fabio Fognini and Borna Coric never made it past their opening match, despite a bye into the second round.
