2021 ATP Swiss Indoors Schedule & Dates

The 2021 schedule for the Swiss Indoors will be revealed soon after the ATP calendar for the season is released.

The 2020 Swiss Indoors competition was cancelled while the 2020 edition was played from October 21 and went on till October 27. It was hosted at the St. Jakobshalle in Basel, Switzerland. The qualifying rounds for the tournament will be played from before that though.

Some of the biggest names in tennis are scheduled to feature in the tournament but more details on the same will be revealed closer to the start of the competition.

The last time this tournament was held, in 2019, the biggest player to feature in the tournament was obviously Roger Federer. His Swiss comrade Stan Wawrinka also participated in the tournament.

What Happened at the 2020 ATP Swiss Indoors?

The 2020 edition of the tournament was cancelled because of the pandemic.

Roger Federer made it three titles in a row at the 2019 Swiss Indoors competition by defeating Australia’s Alex De Minaur in the final to lift the trophy.

In doing so, he also became the first male tennis player to have won two tournaments at least 10 times on grass and indoors.

In 2018, Federer won his 99th tour level title defeating qualifier Marius Copil 7-6(5), 6-4 to emerge victorious in the backdrop of his home crowd at the Swiss Indoors Basel. It was his ninth title at the competition.

Federer was the top seed at the tournament along with Alexander Zverev and Marin Cilic being the second and third seed respectively.

Cilic crashed out of the tournament to the qualifier Maurius Copil for went on to reach the finals. Copil also defeated the second seed Alexander Zverev in three sets in the semi finals to fix a finals match against Roger Federer.

Federer had an easier yet challenging path into the finals compared to his counterpart. He took out the seventh seed Daniil Medvedev in the semi finals after defeating Giles Simon in the quarter finals.
