The third edition of the European Open, an ATP 250 competition, will be played between October 14 and 21, 2018. Jo-Wilfried Tsonga will kick-start the tournament as the defending champion and you can get the latest European Open tips and predictions for this competition below.
While it’s a part of the 250 series, it is fast becoming one of the go-to tournaments for many of the top players around the world, with Tsonga having joined the draw for 2017 after having not featured the previous year. He went on to win the title last year, beating Argentine Diego Schwartzman in the final in straight sets.
Interestingly, it was Schwartzman’s second successive final defeat at the European Open after he was beaten by Richard Gasquet in 2016, also in straight sets. A tad unlucky but Schwartzman will hope to return to this third edition at Antwerp and go one better – wouldn’t that be a wonderful story?

Also in action will be others like Belgian David Goffin, who crashed out of this competition in the quarter-final last year, losing to Greek qualifier Stefanos Tsitsipas in three sets. Tsitsipas later went down to Schwartzman in the semi-finals but that run had given him valuable ATP points.

Nick Kyrgios has been one of the players to watch in men’s tennis today and his blow-hot-blow-cold tennis has almost made him an attractive watch. He was a part of this competition last season and it will be interesting to see if he returns to feature this year as well.
36-year-old David Ferrer might be on his last legs as far as competitive tennis is concerned but the former world number four will continue to test the circuit and the youngsters, as he looks to continue playing with his fighting spirit.
Among some of the others in action during this year’s European Open tennis tournament include Pablo Cuevas, Benoit Paire and Alexandr Dolgopolov, all of whom were dumped out in the first round of the competition last season. It will be a good chance to overcome those issues they faced last year and propel themselves forward.
More European Open tips & predictions will be updated closer to the start of the competition.
