The former Aussie-turned-Brit Johanna Konta is one of the best women’s player from her country and while a Grand Slam win continues to remain elusive, she has already exhibited some brilliant tennis in recent times. If you are looking to understand which racquet Johanna Konta uses and the specifications involved with it, you have come to the right place. Read on…

Konta began her tennis career with Australia before making the switch to Great Britain in 2012. That was also the year when Konta played her first Grand Slam, getting a wildcard to participate at Wimbledon where she lost in the first round but not before she had taken Christina McHale to 10-8 in the final set.

Later that year she won her first match at a Grand Slam, her opening round at the US Open where she had made the main draw as a qualifier. Following a string of under-par performances at the next few Grand Slams where she failed to get past the first round, Konta’s career finally took off at the 2015 US Open where she reached the fourth round.

Again, needing to qualify for the main draw, Konta shocked the ninth seeded Garbine Muguruza in the second round and beat the 18th seeded Andrea Petkovic before succumbing to Petra Kvitova in the fourth.

A few months after an unseeded Konta became the first Brit woman to reach the last-four stage of a Grand Slam since 1983, beating Venus Williams and Ekaterina Makarova on her way. A WTA title followed soon after at the Silicon Valley Classic and early next year she doubled that with a win at the Sydney International.

It was also in 2017 that Konta recorded her best performance till date. Playing at the Miami Open, a Premier Mandatory competition, the 10th seed beat Simona Halep, Venus Williams and Caroline Wozniacki to pouch the title. A few months later, she reached her second major semifinal, which helped her get to her best WTA ranking of number fourth.

Her most consistent year in the Grand Slams came in 2019 when Konta reached the quarterfinal of three of the slams and pushed through to the semis at the French Open.

Konta’s playing style is based on going on the offensive with strong groundstrokes from the baseline.

Her ability to smash winners from most angles is her biggest strength and with a strong serve to boot – she has been one of the top ace-servers in the game – has gone a long way in helping her rise to number fourth in the world. The Brit’s racquet has helped her fine-tune another weapon in her armoury…

So, Which is Johanna Konta’s Racquet?

Johanna Konta has used the Babolat Pure Aero racquet for most part of her career, and she strings it with a Babolat Hybrid RPM Blast.

This racquet is very suited to Konta’s game because of its ability to use spin as a regular weapon of her choice and with a recent redesign offering more control to it as well, it is a racquet to go for if that’s what you are looking for.
