Leading the draw is the former World No. 1 Victoria Azarenka. The Belarusian’s first half of the season has been on a rather disappointing note.
She hasn’t been that active on the tour and in the events she did participate, she lost in the early rounds. Her best run of the season came earlier this year in the Miami Masters, where she made it all the way to the semifinal before losing to Sloane Stephens.
Placed in her opposite half is the French No. 1 Caroline Garcia, who is enjoying her time on the tour after reaching her career-high singles ranking of World No. 6 this year.
The 24-year old has been quite impressive this season with consistently making it to the penultimate rounds in major tournaments. Even though she is yet to win a title this year, her recent form and momentum are certainly going to help her win one soon. Most recently, she reached the semi-final in Madrid Masters, the quarter-final in Italian Open and fourth round in the French Open.
Angelique Kerber is another former World No. 1 who will be playing in Mallorca. She has had a decent season so far and is coming to Spain sailing high on confidence and rhythm. She most recently reached the quarterfinal in French Open and WTA Rome. Right with Azarenka, she is among the most experienced player in the player pool.
To make things more interesting, Carla Suarez Navarro and Agnieszka Radwanska are also going to participate in the 2018 Mallorca Open. Both the ladies are former top 10 players and over the years, they have not failed to impress on big occasions.
