What Happened at the 2021 Parma Open?
Cori Gauff won the first ever edition of the Parma Open held in 2021 as she overcame Wang Qiang in the final, defeating the Chinese player 6-1, 6-3. Played in the lead-up to the French Open, some of the top players in the world had taken part in this competition.
Serena Williams was one of those in action in 2021, with the top seed crashing out in the second round, falling to Katerina Siniakova. Gauff later defeated Siniakova in the semifinal. Qiang was a straight-set winner over Sloane Stephens in the other semifinal.
