The ATP & WTA Parma Open or the Emilia-Romagna Open as it is known for sponsorship reasons is a professional tennis tournament played on both, the men’s and the women’s tour respectively and will be first played in 2021. This competition will be played on outdoor clay court surfaces in Parma, Italy, with the objective been to give players as much practice in the lead-up to the season’s second Grand Slam held in Roland-Garros.

In its very first edition, the men’s singles draw will consist of 28 singles players while there will be 32 players representing the women’s singles draw.

The two competitions will be held in successive weeks.

ATP & WTA Parma 2021 Schedule and Dates

As mentioned earlier, the Parma Open will be played for the men’s and women’s tour but won’t be held in the same week.

The WTA Parma 2021 will kick-start first, held between May 16 and 22, with the qualifiers held just before that. The women’s singles final will be played on May 22 with the men’s qualifiers being held around the same time.

The men’s main draw begins from May 22 as well and will go on till May 29 when the final will be played just a day before the start of the French Open.

What Happened at the 2020 Parma Open?

This is the very first edition of the Parma Open for both, the men’s and women’s singles competition at the highest level.

Last year, there was a Challenger competition held as the Parma Open, which was in its third edition. Cedrik-Marcel Stebe had defeated Liam Broady in the final of that competition to lift the title.
