Nick Kyrgios v Karen Khachanov Head to Head

The two players have met once at the ATP Masters 1000 in Cincinnati in 2019.

Khachanov won the match in three sets, but the match will be most remembered for Kyrgios’ altercation with the chair umpire that clearly affected his game in the decider.

After splitting the first two sets, Kyrgios lost the decider 2-6.

Focussed Kyrgios Eyes Second Week At His Home Slam

Australian Nick Kyrgios has been in atypically focussed mode since the start of 2020 and the new season Down Under.

With the bushfires in Australia prominently affecting his home town of Canberra, the Aussie has been deeply affected and pledged to donate $200 for every ace through the Down Under season.

Kyrgios looked in solid form through the ATP Cup where he led Team Australia to the semi-finals but lost there to Roberto Bautista Agut. Khachanov had done very well until that point in the tournament.

The number 23 seed has looked sharp this week thus far, with convincing wins against both Lorenzo Sonego and Giles Simon. Although a lapse in concentration saw him lost a set to Simon, Kyrgios was able to pull himself together very soon and prevail in a four-setter.

Khachanov Lucky To Survive Ymer Test

After winning the 2018 Paris Masters, defeating Novak Djokovic and breaking into the top 10 of the ATP rankings, there were plenty of expectations from Karen Khachanov for the 2019 season.

Unfortunately, 2019 was a disappointing year for the Russian with him unable to get any sort of form through the year.

Currently ranked just within the top 20 in the world, Khachanov looked strong during the ATP Cup in Melbourne winning all his matches until the semi-finals where he lost to Dusan Lajovic of Serbia.

Khachanov had a disappointing outing at the ASB Classic in Auckland last week losing early to Aussie John Milman.

His Australian Open campaign has not been particularly easy either. Khachanov was pushed to four sets by Spain’s Vilella- Martinez and then played an epic setter against young Swede Mikael Ymer, winning in a super tie-break.

Khachanov definitely has the game to be a force on the tour and will look to return to more consistent results sooner rather than later.

Nick Kyrgios v Karen Khachanov Predictions & Tips

An exciting encounter on the cards between two charismatic personalities. While both are immensely talented, it boils down to who is the better player on the day.

Khachanov has not been in the best of form of late, but he has come through difficult tests and that will give him plenty of confidence.

Kyrgios on the other hand has been focussed and looked in great touch through the ATP Tour and the first two rounds here.

Expect a tussle, but Kyrgios has looked the better player thus far and with the assistance of the home crowd, expect him to pull through in a four-setter.

Tip: Kyrgios to win in four sets: 3/1 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
