Novak Djokovic v Milos Raonic Head to Head
This is the tenth meeting between the two players. Djokovic has won all nine meetings so far, having only dropped two sets against Raonic thus far in all their matches.
Sublime Djokovic Looking Ready for Aussie Open #8
World number two Novak Djokovic is the defending champion both at the Australian Open and Wimbledon. Despite winning both majors in 2019, the season did not have the best end for the Serb.
Pulling out with an injury during his fourth round US Open encounter, being eliminated in the quarter-finals of the ATP Masters 1000 in Shanghai, exiting the year end ATP Tour Finals in the group stages and losing out in the race to year world number one to Rafa Nadal were the lows of the latter part of the last season for Djokovic.
2020 has got off to the best start that the Serb could have asked for, with a successful run at the ATP Cup leading Team Serbia to the title.
He has carried his form forward to the Australian Open and after a somewhat shaky start where he lost a set to German Jan-Lennard Struff in the opener, Djokovic has been in cruise control. Winning his next matches in straight sets, the world number two looked to be getting stronger with each with all aspects of his game and especially his serve firing on all cylinders.
Djokovic looks like a strong favorite for the tournament now which will make the Grand Slam race tally even tighter if he does.
Resurgent Raonic Looking For First Win Over Djokovic
Canadian Milos Raonic was ranked number three in the world in 2016, when he was a Wimbledon finalist as well as a semi-finalist at the Australian Open and the year end ATP Tour Finals.
What followed after was two indifferent seasons, injuries and poor form. Several early round exits saw him drop down the rankings to outside the top 30 and with the rise of Canadian Next Gen stars Denis Shapovalov and Felix Auger- Aliassime moving up the rankings and being with the limelight, Raonic was no longer considered the force he was.
The 29-year-old Canadian has been in startling form in Melbourne in the last week putting up stellar performances, without dropping serve. Raonic defeated number six seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and 2018 finalist Marin Cilic en route the quarter finals and has looked in no discomfort against any of his opponents.
The Canadian will be well aware that he will need to further his game a few notches to uproot his next opponent, Djokovic.
Novak Djokovic v Milos Raonic Predictions & Tips
Although Raonic has been in the best of form thus far this tournament, given his own form, occasion and venue, Djokovic starts as an overwhelming favorite.
The Serb has looked unstoppable this week thus far and it will take a Herculean effort to stop him from another title in Melbourne.
While Raonic has been serving explosively and the forehand has backed up his serve extremely well, Djokovic has too many tools at his disposal to counter that in a best of five.
If the Canadian continues his current form, he can take a set off the defending champion, but that will probably be about it.
Expect the world number two to win in four sets.
Tip: Djokovic to win in four sets: 14/5 (Click here to get these odds with Unibet)
