Felix Auger-Aliassime v Damir Dzumhur Head to Head
The players have never met before on the main ATP Tour.
Their only prior meeting was at the Challenger level on the clay in France in 2017, which was won by Dzumhur in a deciding third set.
Auger-Aliassime Hoping To Move On From Aussie Open
Nineteen-year old Canadian Felix Auger- Aliassime sprung onto the scene in the last two seasons and has performed remarkably to have reached a career high world number 17 ranking in late 2019. He is currently ranked just outside the top 20 in the world.
2019 saw Auger-Aliassime reach three ATP finals, in Rio, Lyon and the grass courts of Stuttgart. The young Canadian also recorded impressive wins throughout the year against players of the calibre of Stefanos Tsitsipas, Nick Kyrgios and Grigor Dimitrov among others.
Along with fellow Next Gen sensation Denis Shapovalov, Auger-Aliassime led Canada to the Davis Cup finals in November 2019 and the final eight of the inaugural ATP Cup last month.
The teenager did not have the best of Australian Opens losing out on Day One and will look to recover quickly and have a confidence boosting February in time for the Sunshine Masters in March.
Dzumhur Looking For a Strong 2020
Damir Dzumhur has been on the ATP tour for most of the last decade.
After a successful Junior and Challenger tour, it took him a while to get successful on the main ATP tour. But he prevailed and was ranked just outside the top 20 in the world during 2017-2018.
Dzumhur won titles during this time at St Petersburg, Moscow and Antalya making him a regular round of 32 contender at all the majors as well.
However, the last season and a half has been disappointing for the Bosnian, which has seen his rankings drop to just within the top 100.
He ran into former champion Stan Wawrinka at the Australian Open in the first round and succumbed in four sets.
Dzumhur will be hoping for a stronger February on the tour setting him up well for a better season than 2019.
Felix Auger-Aliassime v Damir Dzumhur Predictions & Tips
While this could make for an exciting contest, current form suggests otherwise.
Dzumhur has not managed to hit any form in recent times and the trend seemed to continue at the Australian Open.
Although he is yet to succeed at the majors, Auger- Aliassime has been a force in the best of three format and with his powerful game, he is expected to continue his success on the indoor courts.
Expect Auger-Aliassime to prevail in straight sets.
