Alexander Zverev v Adrian Mannarino Head to Head

The pair have met twice so far in their career. The German won on both the occasions in straight sets. First at Stockholm in 2016 and then at Hertogenbosch a year later.

Zverev Still Not at His Best This Week

The 23-year-old German hasn’t hit his strides yet since the season restarted. He crashed out in the first round at the Cincinnati Masters against Andy Murray. And this week he has faced two lower-ranked opponents but took four sets in both the rounds so far to get through.

Two of the eight sets he has played so far went to tie break whereas another three were won by just a single break of serve. This just shows that the margin of wins for the German wasn’t that high and he will have to step up his game if he wants to go deep in the second week.

Zverev was one of those players whose seasons got adversely disrupted because of the suspension. After a slow start at the ATP Cup, he played some scintillating tennis at the Australian Open. He made it to the semi-finals and went down in a tough four-set match against Dominic Thiem. He will be hoping to take inspiration from that and find his form once again in the third round. Another win here would also equal his best-ever showing at the Flushing Meadows that he achieved last year by reaching the fourth round.

Mannarino Looking to Equal his Career Best Grand Slam

For someone who has been playing professionally for almost 16 years, most of the success that the Frenchman has seen has come in the last two years. Since 2018, Mannarino has achieved his best Grand Slam showings at three out of the for Majors and has also reached the only Masters quarter-final of his career.

Last season he won his maiden ATP title at Hertogenbosch and also reached two more finals at Moscow and Zhuhai. This run led him to his best-ever ranking of 22 in the world and despite a slight dip in form this year, he is still at 39 in the world rankings.

The 32-year-old is predominantly a Grass court player and has an excellent record on the surface. His best-ever Slam run is reaching the fourth round at Wimbledon, something that he has achieved four times. One more win will equal that and is also likely to get him back into the top 25 in the rankings once again.

Alexander Zverev v Adrian Mannarino Prediction & Tip

This could be a perfect match for Zverev to switch up a gear. Mannarino is a solid, consistent player but doesn’t really pose a huge threat to the German on this surface. It should be a comfortable win for Zverev.

Tip: Zverev to win in straight sets: 13/8 (bet365)
