Madison Keys v Alize Cornet Head to Head
This will be the fourth time that the pair will face each other in a competitive match. Keys has won on all four occasions. Their first-ever meeting was back in the 2014 Fed Cup where the American won in three sets. They met once again in the same year at Cincinnati. Their final meeting was in the 2016 Wimbledon third round.

The last time that Keys did not reach the fourth round was back in 2014. Since then she has at least made it to the fourth round in every single edition of the tournament. She also reached the final in 2017 and was a semi-finalist a year later. Even though she is yet to win a Grand Slam, she regularly reaches later stages at majors.
In fact, out of the last 10 Grand Slams, the American has made it to one final, two semi-finals, and two-quarter finals.
This season she had an impressive start when she reached the finals at Brisbane. She lost on the day against Karolina Pliskova. Her form suffered after that loss as she crashed out in the third round at the Australian Open after a couple of unconvincing displays in the earlier rounds.
She again looked off the pace in her comeback match post the season resumed at Cincinnati. She lost in straight sets in the first round against Ons Jabeur.
But she seems to have put all of it behind her. She has looked imperious in the opening two rounds this week and is yet to lose a set. In fact, she has only lost five games in the first two matches. With Garbine Muguruza already out, it makes her side of the draw a little easier. With another win, she will be looking to continue her streak at US Open and break back in the top 10 rankings soon.

Cornet Looking to Achieve Personal Best
The first time Cornet played at the Flushing Meadows was 13 years ago back in 2007. She reached the third round on that occasion which remains her personal best run at the event. She also reached the same stage thrice after that in 2008, 2013, and 2014. But has never been able to go beyond that.
This match will be another chance for her to finally improve on a landmark she achieved almost one and a half-decade ago.
Many feel that the 30-year-old Frenchwomen’s best days in tennis are past her. The last of her six WTA titles came more than two years ago and after reaching as high 11 in the world rankings, she is currently at 56. In fact, in four out of the previous six Grand Slams, Cornet crashed out in the first round itself.
She has also had quite a few hip and thigh injuries in the last couple of years which has seen her miss quite a few tournaments. Although the enforced season suspension seems to have done her a world of good. She looks refreshed and reenergized since her comeback and did beat Sofia Kenin in the second round at Cincinnati.
Madison Keys v Alize Cornet Prediction & Tip
Keys has looked untroubled so far in New York. Her first serve percentage has been really good and she has hardly put a foot wrong so far. Cornet on the other hand has been playing with the handbrakes off and could cause the American some problems. Keys should still be able to get through.
