Karolina Muchova v Victoria Azarenka Head to Head
This will be the first time that the world numbers 26 and 27 respectively, Muchova and Azarenka will be playing in a competitive match at this level.

Muchova Survives Sorana Fright
20th seeded Muchova looked like she was headed towards an easy win, and then at one stage it looked like she was dusted in the final set. In the end, the Czech found a way to come back from the near-dead and clinch a fourth round berth.
Muchova and veteran Romanian Sorana Cirstea shared the first two sets in their third round match and the encounter moved towards what turned out to be a thrilling finale. Cirstea had, what looked like, a decisive break in the final set and looked to serve out the match at 5-4.
Her opponent levelled things out and took the set into a tie-breaker. That, however, did not end Muchova’s agony.
In fact, she fell behind 4-0 in the tie-breaker and very soon Cirstea was serving with three match-points for her. Muchova fought back to win the next four points in a momentum-shifting phase and while her opponent did save the match-point at that stage, she lost the next point to have the Czech serving at 8-7.
A service winner helped Muchova close out the set at 9-7 and move to round four.
Earlier, Muchova had defeated Venus Williams and Anna Kalinskaya, both in straight sets and had been an overwhelming favourite against Cirstea. Instead she received a proper scare.

Azarenka Back to Her Best?
When Azarenka won the Cincinnati Open last week thanks to a Naomi Osaka pull-out from the final of that tournament, she had said, among other things, the following:
“I played five really good matches this week, and I think I deserve to be where I am today.”
Azarenka has gone through a lot on and off the court, and for her to come back this season to win her first WTA title since 2016 and to then play the way she has in the US Open, reaching the fourth round in such a hurry – she does deserve a lot.
After a relatively easy first round match against Barbara Haas, Azarenka was expected to be tested by Aryna Sabalenka, a countrywoman who has taken over the top-10 mantle from her. Didn’t happen. Azarenka was too powerful for Sabalenka, dropping just six games in the match.
And while Iga Swiatek is an upcoming youngster, Azarenka’s ferocity and experience proved to be too good for the Pole as she came through 6-4, 6-2 to make it to the fourth round.
Looks like Azarenka is back to her best.
Muchova v Azarenka Prediction & Tip
Azarenka will be the favourite here and unless she struggles to get into rhythm, it could well be another straight set win.
Tip: Azarenka to win in straight sets: 6/5 (bet365)
