Playing the 115th-ranked Kimberly Birrell, the Dane displayed some remarkable skills and proved that she has not lost her touch at all. In an hour and 38 minutes, Wozniacki took the win 6-2, 6-2.
What will be interesting is to see if the 33-year-old can keep the same rhythm against the mighty, in-form Vondrousova. It is one thing to take on a low-performing player and another to face a champion.
Nevertheless, pedigree stands on the side of Wozniacki. She is a two-time finalist in the Canadian Open – most recently in 2017. She is also a three-time Grand Slam finalist and boasts an incredible amount of experience and wisdom.

Vondrousova Beats Sherif
Picking up where she left off, Marketa Vondrousova started her Canadian Open journey with a 6-4, 6-2 win over Mayar Sherif.
In what has been a career-defining season for the current World No. 10, Vondrousova recorded her 30th win against 10 defeats.
Her last tournament was Wimbledon, where she won the title, beating the likes of Ons Jabeur, Elina Svitolina, Jessica Pegula, and Veronika Kudermetova en route. Before that, she enjoyed mid-stage appearances in other big-ticket events like the Sunshine Doubles and Rome Open.
Marketa, a former French Open runner-up, started the year outside the top 90 and now finds herself placed with the elites. The question is if she can keep this going.
Interestingly, this is her first time playing in Montreal 1000.
Wozniacki v Vondrousova Prediction and Tip
Expect a cracking affair. Vondrousova will be eager to prove that she is not a one-hit-wonder, and by all means, she has plenty of skills and momentum to do just that.
