Stefanos Tsitsipas v Gael Monfils Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two and Tsitsipas leads 2-1 on head to head. They haven’t faced off since 2019 though.

In defeating Alex de Minaur in the final of the Los Cabos Open last week, Tsitsipas had managed to notch up his first ATP title win of the season. That is quite a surprise for a player not just ranked fourth on the ATP Tour but also at the same spot on the Race to the ATP Finals.
Tsitsipas has had a good tour so far, having made the final of the Australian Open as well, but he would be disappointed he hasn’t done a lot better than that.
Like during the grass swing, Tsitsipas did make it to the fourth round at Wimbledon but fell to Christopher Eubanks. He had earlier won just one of the four matches he played on grass, making it a highly forgettable couple of months.
And even at the Indian Wells Masters and in Miami, two huge ATP 1000 tournaments, Tsitsipas had summed two wins and two defeats.
Coming into a tournament where he was dumped out in the second round last year but with a final and a semifinal appearance in Toronto before that, it could imply good things for the world number four here.

Monfils Goes Past Eubanks
Christopher Eubanks has made the news for his much-improved tennis in recent times but coming up against Gael Monfils in the opener, he failed to make it through.
Monfils, who has barely won this season on account of his absences because of injury-related issues, defeated his American opponent 7-6 (3), 6-7 (4), 6-1 to make the second round.
This follows a third round appearance at the Washington Open last week where Monfils had shown glimpses of what he can still do in his wins over Bjorn Fratengelo and Alexander Bublik.
The Frenchman was on court for two hours and 29 minutes and saved five of the six break-points he faced to make it through. In return, he managed to earn a whopping 18 break-points in the encounter and converted four of them to end Eubanks’ stay in the tournament.
The quality of opposition will rise dramatically for the former world number six but Monfils can be expected to put up a decent fight here.
Tsitsipas v Monfils Prediction and Tip
Tsitsipas is in the kind of form that makes him one of the favourites to go the distance. Against Monfils, he shouldn’t have a lot of issues and a straight-set win looks likely despite any signs of resistance from Monfils.
