After making it to the fourth round at Wimbledon but then falling in the first round of her home tournament in Prague, Bouzkova started her US Open Swing campaign with the Canadian Open.
She was a straight-set winner over Kayla Day and while Caroline Garcia has been struggling to get going, Bouzkova did well to overcome the Frenchwoman in three sets there to make it to the third round.
While Daria Kasatkina ended her run in the tournament there, Bouzkova will be pleased with the form that she has shown in recent times.
Bouzkova had had an excellent time in hardcourt competitions last season, having won the title at the Prague Open and made the semifinal of the WTA 1000 competition in Guadalajara.

Begu Returns to Hardcourt after Miami
Since reaching the second round at the Miami Open, Begu has focussed her attention on clay, featuring in six such tournaments. There were a couple of rounds at Wimbledon to break that flow but she returned to take part in a WTA 125 tournament in Iasi where she reached the final.
What Begu will hope for is to return to her best on hardcourt surfaces, having struggled to get going on them since reaching the semifinal at the Adelaide International.
That was a stunning run which consisted of wins over Jelena Ostapenko and Veronika Kudermetova but since then, Begu has won a mere two of the seven matches she has played on that surface.
She has been coming to Cincinnati for years now as well, having first figured here in 2012. In the nine appearances she has made here, Begu has failed to get past the qualifiers five times and entered round two just once.
The only time she won a main draw match here was eight years ago. Can she turn things around here?
