Novak Djokovic v Taylor Fritz Head to Head
There have been six previous meetings between these two players and Djokovic has won them all. Three of these matches have come in hardcourt competitions.

Soon after that, he served out the set before following up with three successive breaks of serves in the second set. While Djokovic did lose his serve once in the process, he did not let up the next time he had a chance to ease to the win.
This follows Djokovic’s second round win in his first match since losing the Wimbledon final when he led Alejandro Davidovich Fokina by a set before his retirement from that encounter.

Fritz Benefits from Lajovic Retirement
In what is fast turning out to be a tournament filled with withdrawals and retirements, Dusan Lajovic became another casualty as he was forced out of his third round contest against Fritz.
Fritz, who was 1/4 with bet365 to win his match against his Serbian opponent, led 5-0 in the first set when Lajovic called it quits because of an ankle injury. Needing just 12 minutes of court time, Fritz won all the 20 points on offer including two breaks of serve to set up this meeting with another Serbian player.
This follows straight-set wins for Fritz in the first two rounds with the American having beaten Jiri Lehecka and Lorenzo Sonego to kick things off.
A title winner at the Atlanta Open and a semifinalist in Washington, Fritz will now have the onerous challenge of facing up to a player of Djokovic’s calibre. In a hardcourt competition, Fritz narrows the gap down a little but the fact still is, it’s a huge gap alright.
