Aryna Sabalenka v Karolina Muchova Head to Head

There have been two previous meetings between these two players and both have won one. Muchova clinched their latest match at the 2023 French Open in which she needed three sets to overcome Sabalenka and make the final.

Sabalenka Topples Jabeur

Having returned to the North American hardcourt swing on the back of a semifinal exit at Wimbledon, Sabalenka has taken her time to get going but she will be reasonably satisfied with her performances so far.

After getting knocked out in the third round of the Canadian Open last week, Sabalenka needed three sets to past Ann Li in the second round here before finally getting her bearings right against Daria Kasatkina in the third.

And then facing up to the player who had sent her to the exit door at Wimbledon, Sabalenka lived up to her 9/20 (with bet365) odds billing against Ons Jabeur, defeating her in straight sets to reach the semifinal.

Sabalenka was on court for an hour and 25 minutes in a match that had a total of 10 breaks of serve or about 50% of the service games. That’s a huge number considering these are two top-five players in the world but that’s how the cookie crumbled for them.

In the end, Sabalenka edged her opponent out with a crucial break of serve in the 12th game of the first set and another one in the eight game of the second.

Can she now avenge her French Open semifinal loss just like she did the Wimbledon one?

Muchova Benefits from Bouzkova Retirement

In a tournament filled with retirements and withdrawals, Muchova benefitted from another one as her opponent Marie Bouzkova opted out just 11 minutes into the contest.

Bouzkova, who had entered the contest on the back of a shock rout of Jessica Pegula in the previous round, was expected to give her fellow Czech player a run for her money despite starting out a 6/4 underdog (with bet365) in the contest.

However, that did not work out too well as Muchova grabbed a 3-0 lead on the back of losing just two points in the encounter before Bouzkova called it off.

This win might not have been the greatest way to enter the semifinal but Muchova will grab it with both hands after having been on court for a lengthy period of time over the previous three rounds.

Muchova had needed three-setters against Beatriz Haddad Maia, Petra Martic and then again in her third round encounter against Maria Sakkari to set up the Bouzkova meeting.

Against Sabalenka, on a surface outside of clay, she will find the going tough but she will hope to remain in the contest with her fighting spirit coming to her rescue.

Sabalenka v Muchova Prediction and Tip

Sabalenka will have a second successive revenge on her mind when she takes on her French Open vanquisher and we will be backing her to win this. Might see a longish match though.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Sabalenka to win: 1/2 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Over 21.5 games in the match: 5/6 (with bet365)
