This will be their first meeting on the WTA Tour.

Sasnovich Hunting for Main Draw Win

Since getting knocked out of the second round at Wimbledon, Sasnovich is in her third hardcourt competition and is yet to win a main draw round.

At Warsaw, she was a direct qualifier for the main draw but went down fighting to Karolina Muchova in the first round. And then scraping through the qualifiers to enter the Cincinnati Open, Sasnovich was sent packing by Qinwen Zheng.

Sasnovich will like to turn that around here in Cleveland but her record on hardcourt surfaces isn’t the best. Especially not this year.

In the first half of the year, Sasnovich had played in eight hardcourt competitions and won a round in just four of them. And in none of those four did she manage to make it past the second round either.

She starts a second favourite at 11/10 with bet365 here.

Navarro Hoping to Convert Form into Hardcourt Results

Emma Navarro, age 22, will compete in Cleveland with 45 wins and just 18 losses this season.

The youngster has worked relentlessly in 2023 to build her form and experience, winning three ITF titles and taking home the runner-up silverware in two more. In addition, Navarro reached her maiden WTA 125 final in Bastad last month and the semis in WTA Bad Homburg in June.

Since then, Emma has competed in the quarterfinal in Palermo and round two in Lausanne. Most recently, she featured in Cinci as a qualifier, where she did move past the likes of Leylah Fernandez and Rebecca Marino in the prelims. However, she fell to Petra Martic in the opening round.

All in all, Navarro has shown a great deal of promise this year. The current #53 has moved up beautifully in the rankings after starting outside the top 140.

Navarro v Sasnovich Prediction and Tip

Backing Navarro to clinch a win over a struggling Sasnovich with a straight-set result likely.
