Since making it to the final of the Munich Open in April, van de Zandschulp has done almost nothing of note. In fact in the eight matches that have followed, van de Zandschulp has lost seven of them with his only victory coming in the first round at Wimbledon where he needed five sets to get past Zhizhen Zhang.

Lucky Loser Omni Shocks Rinderknech
Before entering this tournament, Omni’s career-best ranking was 382nd and he had played in the main draw of just one tournament in his career. That had come in the Los Cabos Open where he had won a couple of qualifiers to make it to the first round before going down to Aleksandar Kovacevic in that encounter.
This time around, Omni hadn’t even made the main draw after falling in the second qualifier to Illya Marchenko but the dint of fate allowed him a place in the first round next to Arthur Rinderknech.
The lucky loser wasn’t expected to go too deep with Omni starting out a 9/2 (bet365) underdog in the encounter.
And surprise, surprise, not only did he win it he also managed to usurp Rinderknech 6-3, 7-6 (3) to enter the second round.
