Dominik Koepfer v Strong Kirchheimer Head to Head

There has been one previous meeting between these two players that came on the Challenger circuit in 2020. Koepfer had won that hard-fought encounter in three sets.

Koepfer Escapes Against Lestienne

Things looked to be headed Koepfer’s way in his first round match against Constant Lestienne when he grabbed the first set and was 3-1 up in the second. With Lestienne to find a way past his opponent’s serve, it looked like Koepfer, who was 3/5 with bet365, would have no issues sealing off his second round berth.

Around an hour and a half later, Koepfer was facing a match-point against him. A few moments later, he faced a second match-point.

It took all of Koepfer’s effort to stall Lestienne, saving both those match-points before he went 9-8 up and broke his opponent’s serve to clinch the tie.

Koepfer will hope he does a lot better than that when he takes to court for his second round match as he starts off a favourite against a surprise second round opponent.

Kirchheimer Finds Himself in Second Round

Kirchheimer is 28 years old but has never found a place in the top 350 of the ATP Rankings in his career ever before. He has never played a main draw match at the highest level and even on the Challenger circuit, Kirchheimer’s career win-loss record reads an abysmal 14-33.

Which is why when he fell to Barbadian player Darian King in a third set tie-breaker of their second qualifying round, it did not come as a huge surprise. It had been the case of so near, yet so far for Kirchheimer but at the same time it extended his years of a run of having never played at the highest level.

Till, all of a sudden, Kirchheimer found himself in round two of the competition.

The American player made it through as a lucky loser but instead of entering the first round of the draw, he will be featuring in round two following the withdrawal of the seeded Daniel Altmaier.

Kirchheimer won’t be the favourite by some distance, starting out a 5/1 underdog with bet365, but sometimes winning or losing doesn’t matter too much as he celebrates his first ever appearance on the ATP circuit.

Koepfer v Kirchheimer Prediction and Tip

Koepfer should not have a lot of issues and we can expect him to make it through in straight sets against a debutant.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Koepfer to win in straight sets: 1/2 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Under 19.5 games in the match: 5/6 (with bet365)
