Lehecka Takes Time against Krueger

He was up against a player ranked 275th in the world and was expected to win it easily. Lehecka, however, was slow off the blocks and ended up needing three sets to get past Mitchell Krueger in his opener.

After earning a first round bye, Lehecka overcame his slow start to edge out Krueger 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 in a match lasting an hour and 52 minutes.

Lehecka was broken twice in the first set and then fell a break behind in the second as well as Krueger looked like he was about to overturn the 14/5 odds (with bet365) on offer for his win. It was Lehecka’s first break of serve that came in the second game of the second set that turned things around for him.

He went on to break Krueger two more times in the set and once early in the third to clinch his second win at the North American hardcourt swing.

Can he now usurp his clay court specialist opponent?

Koepfer Eases Past Kirchheimer

Starting out a 1/10 favourite against the 416th-ranked Strong Kirchheimer, Koepfer lived up to those expectations as he coasted to a straight-set win.

Having made it to directly to the second round as a lucky loser following his qualifying loss to Darian King, Kirchheimer was no match for Koepfer as the German won 6-3, 6-2. The match lasted an hour and 23 minutes.

Koepfer took an early, 2-0 lead but then dropped his serve for the first and only time in the match. He broke right back though and from that point on, there was just one-way traffic.

He saved three break-points in the fifth game before winning the next 24 points on his own serve!

This follows Koepfer’s three-set win over Constant Lestienne in the first round but against Lehecka, things could be a whole lot different and that can be seen from the odds on offer. Koepfer starts off a 2/1 (with bet365) underdog in this.

Lehecka v Koepfer Prediction and Tip

Lehecka should not have a lot of difficulties here with a straight-set win on the cards for the Czech.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Lehecka to win: 2/5 (with bet365)
  • Moderate Risk Tip: Lehecka to win in straight sets: 6/5 (with bet365)
