The former US Open champion has added no titles since May and against the might of Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz he might not find it that easy. What could be easy though is his opener here and he starts off a whopping 1/1000 favourite with bet365 in this first round encounter.

Balázs Enters on a Protected Ranking
Having played a sum of 16 matches spread over the last three seasons, it is no surprise that Balazs has fallen to outside the top 1000 of the ATP Rankings. He has, however, entered the US Open draw on the back of a Protected Ranking which gives him a direct entry into the main draw despite having featured in just three matches this year.
Balazs is also a clay-courter and despite that, so pronounced have been his struggles he has lost all three of his clay-court matches in straight sets, winning a mere eight games spread across those three.
Which is also why it’s no surprise that Balazs starts off a distant 100/1 (bet365) to win it. More vitally, he will look to survive, to try and win a game or two in each of the sets but even that looks like an onerous task at this stage.
