Carlos Alcaraz v Dominik Koepfer Head to Head
Alcaraz and Koepfer have never faced off in a competitive match before this.

Alcaraz Kick-Starts Title Defence
Alcaraz’s brilliance was already on display by the time he took to court at the US Open last year but one wasn’t sure if he would go on to win a Grand Slam that early in his career. The absence of Novak Djokovic from the competition did help and by the time he had moved past his opponents in the earlier rounds, his stock had begun to rise.
He would go on to defeat Jannik Sinner and Casper Ruud on his way to winning the title and a new star was born.
Since then, he has gone on to add a whopping six titles to hit kitty this year which includes the Wimbledon win when he overcame Djokovic in a five-set final.
A Cincinnati Masters title was well within his grasp too after the world number one had earlier clinched the one at Indian Wells before Djokovic squeezed past him in what has been described as one of the best non-Grand Slam match of the year.
He now begins his title defence here and will start a heavy favourite in this encounter – 1/50 (with bet365) – for obvious reasons.

Koepfer Solid in Hardcourt Competitions
While he will be up against the world number one in this opener and a player who is showing the kind of form that has brought about comparisons with Rafael Nadal, Koepfer will enter the US Open with his confidence reasonably compact.
And that’s to do with the manner in which he has played in the hardcourt competitions in the lead-up to this US Open edition.
First things first and Koepfer is more a clay-courter than a hardcourt player but in the three tournaments he has played on hardcourt surfaces before this tournament, he has been stellar.
It started off with a quarterfinal appearance at the Atlanta Open, saw him make the semifinal in Los Cabos and then another third round appearance at the Winston-Salem Open in the lead-up to the US Open.
Add the fact that he took both, Alex de Minaur and Jiri Lehecka to three sets before going down, and you could see Koepfer giving Alcaraz a bit of a fight in at least one of the sets despite being 17/1 (bet365) to win this.
Alcaraz v Koepfer Prediction and Tip
Expecting a straight-set win for Alcaraz but expect at least one of the sets to get close to a tie-breaker.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Alcaraz to win in straight sets: 2/5 (with bet365)
- Moderate Risk Tip: Over 28.5 games in the match: 5/6 (with bet365)
