Cori Gauff v Laura Siegemund Head to Head
Their only previous meeting came at the 2020 Auckland Open and rather surprisingly, it was Siegemund who had won that encounter.

Gauff has been tipped to win a Grand Slam for a while now and has come close to doing that on one occasion when she made the final of the 2022 French Open.
This time around, however, her credentials have been boosted by her performance in hardcourt competitions in recent times.
Since opting to sign up Brad Gilbert as a part-time coach, Gauff has gone on a bit of a winning spree. After losing in the first round at Wimbledon, Gauff went on to clinch the Washington Open title and then stunned Iga Swiatek for the first time in her career to win the Cincinnati Open as well.
It was her first win over Swiatek in eight meetings and it looks like she has managed to turn things around when it comes to facing up to power hitters – a bugbear for the world number six for a while now.
Gauff knows the competition is sterling at this year’s US Open but she will definitely be in the mix as she takes on her first round opponent here, starting out a 1/9 favourite with bet365.

Siegemund Made Warsaw Final
While Siegemund’s form has fallen away with time and so has her ranking, she did surprise a few of those watching with a solid showing at the Poland Open late last month.
Siegemund won four matches in a row to make it to the final where she was crushed 6-0, 6-1 by the world number one Iga Swiatek.
She has followed that showing up with a qualification loss at the Cincinnati Open before winning three in a row in the US Open qualifiers to make it to the main draw.
The 35-year-old is showing there’s still some tennis left in her despite having fallen from her career-best ranking of 27th to her current outside of the top 100. However, against players of top-notch calibre, Siegemund has struggled to find her footing.
Which is why it’s no surprise she will be a 7/1 underdog (with bet365) coming into this encounter and might not have too much in her arsenal to test Gauff.
