Andrey Rublev v Emil Ruusuvuori Head to Head
There have been three previous meetings between these two players and Rublev leads 2-1. All three came in hardcourt competitions including two this year. At the Australian Open it was Rublev who won in four sets before Ruusuvuori extracted his revenge in Cincinnati earlier this month.

While Rublev has won two ATP titles this season including his maiden one at the Masters 1000 series, both of them have come on clay.
On the other hand, his performances in hardcourt competitions in 2023 have been under-par by his own standards.
Sure, Rublev made the quarterfinal at the Australian Open and followed it up with a title-deciding appearance at the ATP Dubai but he hasn’t done too much of note other than that. At both, the Indian Wells and Miami Masters, the Russian failed to move beyond the fourth round and things quickly deteriorated more recently in Toronto and Cincinnati.
At both those tournaments, Rublev was sent packing in his openers – losing to Emil Ruusuvuori and Mackenzie McDonald despite starting out a 1/4 favourite at both.
Rublev has reached the quarterfinal at the US Open on three previous occasions including the last season but given his form and the quality of competition he would do well to get there again. For starters though he will hope to start winning again as he starts off a 1/3 favourite in his opener with bet365.

Ruusuvuori Form Patchy But Improving Recently
When Ruusuvuori entered the Washington Open, his first tournament of the US Open Series, he was on a five-match losing streak.
He changed things around by making it to the third round of that tournament, with wins over Constant Lestienne and Yoshihito Nishioka before Grigor Dimitrov got the better of him.
Another first round loss at the Canadian Masters followed suit but Ruusuvuori recovered from that too and entered the third round at the Cincinnati Masters. This was where he would defeat Rublev in the second round after carving out Corentin Moutet easily in the first.
The question, however, is if Ruusuvuori can repeat that showing in a best of five encounter. Rublev’s not been in the best of touches recently, sure, but to overcome in a major will be a different kettle of fish.
Which is why Ruusuvuori starts off a distant, 5/2 underdog to win this with bet365.

Rublev might not have had a great time recently and that could put question-marks over his chances in the tournament as a whole but we think he should win this in four or five sets.
