While Krejcikova has managed to hold on to a respectable world number 12 ranking, her performances in recent times have left a bit to desire.
Since having made the final on the grass courts of the Birmingham International, Krejcikova has lost four of the five matches she has played in. This includes a second round retirement at Wimbledon because of a left leg injury.
Krejcikova managed to return to competitive tennis after that at the Cincinnati Open but was dumped out in the very first round by Victoria Azarenka. And then in Cleveland, Krejcikova did not have much of a chance against Clara Tauson, winning a mere five games in the encounter.
This could be a sign of things to come – that Krejcikova hasn’t fully recovered from her injury and is still baying for match fitness.

Bronzetti In Recent Strife
Bronzetti’s had an intriguing year. Every now and then, she has managed to win a few matches in a row and that has invariably been followed by a few successive defeats as well.
After winning three of the five matches she featured in at the United Cup, Bronzetti went on an eight match losing streak! And then featuring on the ITF circuit to turn things around she managed to win four in a row to reach the final of a tournament.
A semifinal at the Florence Open, a title win in Rabat and a finals appearance in Bad Homburg looked to have turned things around for the Italian but that was then followed by six consecutive defeats.
More recently at the WTA 125 event in Chicago, she was a quarterfinalist, only to pull out of her contest. That could put a question-mark over her participation here and even if she does, push Krejcikova to being a heavy favourite as a result of it.
