Dimitrov has stitched together one of his better seasons in recent times and that has allowed him to remain in the top 20 of the rankings. And with just a second round appearance from the 2022 US Open to defend this year, it seems very likely he won’t be sliding down the charts too easily.
What could be a bit of a worry is a back injury that had forced Dimitrov to pull out of the Canadian Masters recently.
He did return to play at the Cincinnati Masters but as luck would have it, Dimitrov was drawn to face Alexander Zverev in the first round there. A resurgent Zverev crushed the Dimitrov hopes with a 6-2, 6-2 scoreline to take him home.

Molcan Has Struggled Throughout the Season
Having started out the season ranked 50th in the world, Molcan has slowly and steadily slipped down the rankings charts this year. And a lot of that has come in the more recent times.
In fact, even until the first week of April, he was still the 51st-ranked player before his lack of form forced him down the ladder.
By the first week of May he had gone down to 59th, he entered the French Open ranked 86th and continued to flounder around, falling to outside the top 100 by the end of last month.
So much so that Molcan hasn’t played a single match in the hardcourt competitions played in North America in the second half of the season, opting to feature in the Kitzbuhel Open and the Banja Luka Challenger on clay.
Which is why, despite having made the third round at the US Open, this out of form Slovak will start off a distant second-favourite in this encounter with bet365 offering 4/1 for his win.
