While Bencic has managed to win two WTA titles this year, she has been unable to maintain her top-10 ranking having started out the season as a world number nine.
This could be due to her middling performances in the bigger tournaments, like the WTA 1000s and Grand Slams.
For instance, Bencic made the fourth round at the Australian Open and Wimbledon but couldn’t go further.

Rakhimova Coming off WTA 125 Showings
Having fallen to 78th in the world at the moment, Rakhimova has been forced to play on the lower rung of WTA competitions, the WTA 125s. In fact she was on a six-match losing streak when she entered the Stanford Open two weeks ago, following which she finally turned things around.
It might have been on the WTA 125 circuit but Rakhimova won her first competitive match in more than two and a half months as she stormed into the final of that tournament. Unfortunately for her, she stumbled upon an in-form Wang Yafan and lost 6-2, 6-0.
At Chicago, again in a WTA 125 tournament played in the lead-up to the US Open, Rakhimova won a couple of rounds to make it to the quarterfinals where she faces Varvara Gracheva at the time of writing this.
All in all, Rakhimova looks to be recovering from the dire straits that she had found herself in but it looks unlikely she would be able to get past the world number 15 in this one. She is a distant 6/1 (with bet365) to win this.
