Lehecka On Fire at Winston-Salem

Jiri Lehecka will possibly arrive in New York after winning a trophy in Winston-Salem. Thanks to some luck, he found himself in the final without having to play Sebastian Korda in the final. The American withdrew because of an injury, but even so, Lehecka could have beaten him straight up.

It’s been a great week for the Czech player with big wins over Dominik Koepfer and Max Purcell, just in time for the US Open. Winning the trophy would obviously be a major boost for him. The season has been okay for Lehecka. He started well in Australia but cooled since then for a solid 33-23 record.

He’s 18-10 on hard courts, which is pretty good, though he generally prefers to play on the quicker courts. He has a solid serve and hits hard from the baseline, which is the winning combo.

He’s never faced Karatsev, but he’s playing far better than the Russian right now, so a win is expected.

Karatsev Struggling This Season

Aslan Karatsev hasn’t played that well so far this year, even though his record is 23-17. He’s had some good events, which inflated the numbers, but for the most part, it’s been pretty below average.

He’s capable of some amazing tennis, but right now it’s just not clicking. On hard this year, Karatsev holds a 4-6 record which is odd because he used to be so good on the surface. As a very aggressive player, consistency is always going to be a problem.

When everything is working, he’s really tough to beat, but when it’s not, it’s dreadful. Recently, it’s been mostly the latter as his last win came in Washington over Kiranpal Pannu, a player who is not even in the top 500. Since then, we’ve seen three easy defeats, and that’s likely going to happen in New York.

He needs to find some quickly against Lehecka, and it might just be the fatigue of his opponent.

Lehecka v Karatsev Prediction and Tip

It’s a pretty straightforward backing of Lehecka, who seems like the better player and is playing in better form.
