Trevisan Not in Good Form

Martina Trevisan is set to make her third appearance at the US Open.

A French Open semifinalist in 2022, Trevisan has a 1-2 record at the US Open. While she made it to the second round in 2021, she was knocked out in the opening round last year.

The left-handed Italian has never been able to deliver in a Grand Slam outside Roland Garros.

It will be interesting to see how she performs in New York this year. Trevisan hasn’t had a great run so far this year. She has a 17-21 record across levels this year, and a 10-12 record on hard courts, with her best being a quarterfinal finish in Miami.

Most recently, the Italian qualified for Cincinnati and won the first round, only to fall in the second. She also played in Cleveland as a lucky loser, but lost the opening round.

Putintseva Struggling As Well

Yulia Putintseva will be making her ninth appearance at the US Open. The Kazakh player’s best result in the tournament was a quarterfinal finish in 2020. She also finished in the third round once and lost in the second round thrice, including last year.

Putintseva has an overall record of 23-22 this season and like Trevisan she is 10-12 on hard courts across levels.

A former top 30 player, the 28-year-old was a quarterfinalist in Hobart and Rabat, but has struggled in other tournaments.

In her most recent assignments, she could reach only as far as the second round in Montreal while playing as a lucky loser. She also fell in the qualifiers in Cincinnati.
