The pair have never played each other before.
This will be the first match between the 27 year old Australian, and the Taiwanese, who is three years younger.

Kokkinakis Should Have a Better New York Record
With his aggressive style of play and big serve, it is perhaps surprising that Kokkinakis does not have a better record at the US Open.
The sad fact, though, from his point of view, is that he has only reached the second round in New York once, and that was back in 2019.
That, though, is the furthest he had been in any Grand Slam in singles until reahing the third round of the French Open this year, although, famously, he did win the doubles at the Australian Open with Nick Krygios last year.
That run in Paris helped him break back into the top 100, and he has since consolidated that with a string of second round appearances in Atlanta and Washington, where he entered the main draw automatically, and in Toronto, where he had to qualify first.
He also came through qualifying in Cincinnati, but was then beaten in the first round by Hubert Hurkasz, losing in three sets.

Hsu Defies Expectations to Qualify
Hsu is normally to be found on the World Tennis Tour, where he has won two titles this year, both in Japan on hard courts.
He also has one Challenger tournament success to his name from last year.
In January he made his Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open after coming through qualifying, but was thrashed in the first round by another Australian Alex de Minaur.
Most of the year he has struggled on the Challenger circuit, where he has only won three matches, but he has defied expectation by qualifying for the US Open.
First he beat the Turkish player Cem Ilkel in straight sets, before raising his game to defeat the experienced French competitor Benoît Paire in three. The last obstacle in his way, Aidan Mayo of the USA, was cleared with a straight sets’ victory
Kokkinakis v Hsu Prediction and Tip
Although Kokkinakis has a poor record in this event, this appears a golden opportunity to improve on that against an opponent who has defied all expectations just to qualify in the first place.
Tips:
- Low Risk Tip: Kokkinakis to win: 1/5 (with bet365)
- Moderate Risk Tip: Under 33.5 games in the match: 11/10 (with bet365)
