Alexander Zverev v Daniel Altmaier Head to Head

Zverev has won their only previous outing which came at the 2022 Australian Open.

Zverev Eases Past Vukic

Aleksandar Vukic was one of the many Aussies in action at the US Open on day two and he also became of many of them to fall out of the singles competition. To be fair to him, he was never expected to do too much, starting out a 13/2 (with bet365) underdog against the rampaging Zverev.

And rampaging he was, with Zverev needing two hours and 11 minutes to record a 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 win over Vukic.

Zverev broke Vukic once apiece in the first two sets and was 4-2 up in the third when Vukic finally found his own. He levelled things out at 4-4 with his first break of the match but Zverev retaliated with a second one for the set before serving out the match.

This win follows a semifinal appearance at the Cincinnati Masters for Zverev where he had made life difficult for Novak Djokovic before bowing out. Can he take that same forward as he starts off a 1/12 favourite with bet365 here.

Altmaier Registers Comeback Win

While Altmaier relies heavily on his performances on clay to push his rankings up, he was a mild favourite coming into his opening round match against Constant Lestienne.

Starting out at 5/6 odds with bet365 to defeat Lestienne, Altmaier was a set down after a fighting opening tie-breaker went the way of his French opponent.

It had been a strange set anyway with Altmaier having led by a break at one point and then being a break down at another before losing the tie-breaker.

From that point onward, however, Altmaier broke Lestienne four times to win the next two sets and while he lost his serve in the first game of the fourth set, he grabbed another couple of breaks there to make it an easy win in the end.

A whopping 32 break-points were on offer in the encounter before Altmaier clinched his maiden second round berth in a non-clay Grand Slam.

Against Zverev, however, he might not get as many respites as he did in the opener.

Zverev v Altmaier Prediction and Tip

Zverev looks set to win this and with some ease. Straight sets expected.

Tips:

  • Low Risk Tip: Zverev to win in straight sets: 4/5 (with bet365)
