Anna Karolina Schmiedlova now ranked World No. 64, was a semifinalist in the Barranquilla Challenger ahead of the US Open. Before that Colombian tournament, she was a quarterfinalist in the Prague Open.

Xiyu Wang has also done well personally in New York by reaching round three for the first time in her career. Her journey saw her beat Katie Volynets and Sara Sorribes Tormo with relative ease.
The 21-year-old is establishing herself as a doubles specialist; notably, this year, she won the French Open and made it to the final in Merida and Hua Hin.
On the singles side, Wang is at a respectable World No. 53 position, armed with an impressive 30 wins and 19 losses only.
In the buildup to th US Open, Xinyu won the ITF Landisville and made it to the quarters in WTA Cleveland (as a qualifier). Earlier in the year, she was a semifinalist in Hua Hin too. Apart from these, Wang has featured in numerous tournaments consistently with mixed results.
