Jessica Pegula v Elina Svitolina Head to Head
There have been four previous meetings between these two players and Pegula leads 3-1. This includes a match as recently as the Washington Open last month where Pegula had needed three sets to go past her opponent.

Tig No Match for Pegula
Pegula’s good form extended into the second round of the US Open as she raced to a complete rout of her opponent, Patricia Maria Tig.
In a match lasting just an hour and 13 minutes, Pegula dropped just four games in her march into the third round. She won 6-3, 6-1 despite losing her serve twice in the encounter.
Tig showed some fight in the first set when she came back twice from being a set down to get to serve at 3-4. From there on, however, Pegula won nine of the next 10 games to register her victory.
This follows a 6-2, 6-2 rout of Camila Giorgi in the first round, a win against a far tougher opponent. Her biggest challenge will come in this third round encounter against a player who has been on a bit of a roll in recent times and while she starts off a 1/3 favourite (with bet365), she will need to start well.

Svitolina Needs to Put up a Fight against Pavlyuchenkova
Svitolina might have gone in as a 2/5 favourite against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova but it sure did not seem like there was a lot of difference in their quality.
In the end, it was Svitolina who squeaked through to a win but the result could have gone the other way.
Having cruised through to a win over Anna Lena Friedsam, Svitolina missed three break-points at 5-5 in the first set before getting broken in the 12th to go one set down. A flurry of breaks in the second set gave Svitolina a 4-3 lead following which she served it out at 5-4 to level the proceedings.
In the third, Svitolina was quickly up by four games to love and while Pavlyuchenkova won the next three games, she was unable to get a second break back. Svitolina wrapped it up in two hours and 48 minutes to seal her third round spot.
She is a 9/4 (with bet365) underdog against the in-form Pegula.
Pegula v Svitolina Prediction and Tip
Bookmakers have pegged Pegula as a huge favourite but this could be a lot closer than that and we could see Svitolina push this to a third set.
